What Is a BOM (Bill Of Material)?

In general, a BOM contains the information on list of raw materials, parts, and sub-components used to build a product along with the instructions on how to assemble them.

In PCB manufacturing, a BOM includes the desired information, like Component Quantity on each board, Designator, Manufacturer Part No, and "special instructions" wherever necessary. It is the very step in Component procurement.

Bill of Materials is a list of all the parts that are needed for the PCB Assembly and matches those parts to the Reference Designators in the PCB layout. The BOM should have details with respect to the description of the Part(value), Reference(Designator), Package, Manufacturer Part Number(MPN), etc.

You can upload your BOM in our component procurement tool to start with component sourcing.
